Review Roundup XIV
Inkheart
Disappointing.  The concepts in this movie have the opportunity to bring almost any fictional character to life and they choose like 3 really boring ones.  Also this movie spends lots of time with characters discussing plans or driving to and from destinations.  That is the sign of a movie with not enough content.  Which again, they could have had unlimited interesting characters that we already knew the back story to, instead of the characters we did have, half of which really didn't have anything to do with the story (the great aunt, the author, that thief, all the henchmen, all the creatures) and just took up screen time.

Gran Torino
How old does Clint Eastwood have to be before it isn't awesome to see him stomp on a bunch of teenagers' faces and say a bunch of racist things?  A few years older than he is now, apparently.  Excellent.

Jumper
So the FX are pretty great, but boy is the main guy a douche.  And I don't mean that in a sarcastic or ironic way, the movie shows us scenes of him not using his superpower to help people, and then using his superpower to get innocent people killed horribly while his is dicking around.  I don't get it.  Superhero movies all the time just don't show innocent people being hurt by omitting them from the shot or whatever, so we don't have to think about the number of people that would die during any of superhero fight.  But Jumper shows us again and again that these teleporting guys are not just incidental dicks, but real assholes.  But the FX scenes are like if the beginning of X-Men 2 with Nightcrawler in the White House, was a whole
movie.

Idiocracy
More of a "oh, that is clever" as opposed to "Ha Ha" kind of funny.

Super Jail

Quite simply the most horrible and horribly violent cartoon I have ever seen.
Unredeemable.

Max Payne
For those of you who were a fan of the game, let me break it down for you.
2: Number of times there is a bullet time action sequence.
1: Number of times Payne uses drugs to keep from keeling over dead.
7: Number of times Payne is shot.
0: Number of times Payne is bothered at all by being shot.
100: Percentage of the time that it is snowing during this movie.
100: Percentage of the time that Payne only wears a leather jacket with no gloves or scarf or anything, despite the cold.
0: Amount of sense the drug dealer's business plan makes;ie. sell drugs that give everybody horrible hallucinations and then chop them up with a sword.
0: Amount of sense the drug dealer's stalking plan makes; ie. hanging out on rooftops looking and listening down to the street, you ain't Batman, you can't see or hear what is going on down there.
2: Number of rappers turned actors starring in this movie.

I saw the unrated version, they shot most of the action scenes two ways, one with blood, one with no blood. There wasn't actually that much action in it, considering the source material, there were only like two big shoot outs in a 90 minute long movie. Mostly it was people moping around and confusingly investigating crimes.

My husband claimed Idoicracy was the funniest movie so I decided to give it a try (loves me some Dax & David Herman). I know the stupidity is intended to be exaggerated, but I couldn’t stand it. I couldn’t get into the movie & therefore, hated it.

And I agree, Super Jail hurts. I hate it.

Re: electrolytes
Yeah, Idiocracy was just kind of depressing. I know they are trying to make fun of the present through the future, but the whole thing was so...everybody was so dirty and ugly and stupid and depressing, it was all something of a downer.
